Most departments have faculty who are eager to meet with students. Ask your major advisor if they have recommendations of which faculty you should contact.

Coffee with a Prof
This program allows you to take a professor or graduate teaching assistant (TA) to get free coffee and learn more about your course or career opportunities.

Biology
The School of Biological Sciences offers Faculty Advisors by academic discipline who are subject-matter experts. Visit the list.
Computer Science and Engineering
The CSE Undergraduate Committee (UGCom) faculty members offer advising and mentorship on many topics including job/internship opportunities, career path options, how to get involved in research, and course enrichment opportunities. Contact a member.
Linguistics
The Linguistics department has a dedicated faculty advisor and a faculty Speech Language Pathology (SLP) advisor. Connect with them.
Literature
The Literature department has Faculty Advisors who conduct major-specific career advising for students. Visit the Literature Majors webpage and view the Faculty Advisor under each major heading.
Philosophy
The Director of Undergraduate Studies organizes honors thesis committees, mentors the philosophy club, and connects individual students with unofficial advisors in their areas of interest. Reach out to the Philosophy department advisor via the VAC to get connected!
Physics
The Undergraduate Faculty Advising Committee is committed to collaborating with their department Student Affairs team to provide essential resources and organize quarterly panel discussions on relevant topics. Structural Engineering
Structural Engineering assigns faculty advisors in the first year. They serve as the direct contact for students to provide advice of a technical nature. Read more here.
Visual Arts
Faculty advisors are available for each Visual Arts major area. They help students with questions about career aspirations and specific fields in visual arts. Contact VIS department advising via the VAC for more information.

Faculty Mentoring
These structured programs provide faculty mentorship to undergraduate students.
Business and Economics Mentoring Program (BEMP) - This program is for Business Economics majors and connects students with mentors to learn about research, internships, and planning classes.
Faculty Mentor Program (FMP) - Through the Faculty Mentor Program, students can develop valuable relationships with UC San Diego faculty mentors while participating in an independent study course (99 or 199) designed to build their research skills. Hosted by the Undergraduate Research Hub.
Marshall Mentor Program - This program offers second-year transfer students in Marshall College the opportunity to connect with faculty members in their academic discipline.
Revelle College Mentorship Program - This opportunity for Revelle College students allows them to gain valuable guidance and encouragement from faculty through the sharing of life experiences and perspectives.
Scholarships and research opportunities may offer students the chance to receive guidance from faculty. These require an application process.
